North city hospital provides first-response medical services. Clinical care is provided by our resident doctor, while specialists are on call should more specialized treatment be required.
What constitutes emergency medical treatment?
The International Federation for Emergency Medicine defines it as “where medical treatment is necessary because a person’s life or health is in serious danger as a result of disease, injury or ill health”.
The department is defined as “The area of a facility devoted to provision of an organized system of emergency care that is staffed by medicine specialist physicians and has the basic resources to resuscitate, diagnose and treat patients in emergencies.”
Assessment and triage process
The “triage” refers to the methods used to assess patients’ severity of injury or illness within a short time after their arrival, assign priorities, and transfer each patient to the appropriate place for treatment.
